Dr Theophilus Andoh-Robertson is an experienced university administrator and counsellor who has dedicated over twenty years to improving education in Ghana. He holds a PhD in Counselling Psychology, an MPhil and Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling, and a Teacher’s Certificate “A.” His education from Sekondi College through the University of Education, Winneba, to an Executive Certificate in Leadership from the University of Ghana shows his strong commitment to learning, personal growth, and leadership.

At the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Dr Andoh-Robertson has risen steadily through the ranks, serving as Assistant Registrar, Senior Assistant Registrar, Deputy Registrar, and now Registrar. He also teaches at the University, handling courses such as Critical Thinking, Integrated Thought, and General Psychology.

As Head of the Counselling and Student Support, and previously Head of the Guidance and Counselling Unit, he improved student services and built a system that supports students academically, emotionally, and socially. His leadership style is calm, fair, people-centred, and focused on solving problems.

Dr Andoh-Robertson has played a major role in shaping important policies at UMaT. He has written several memos and policy documents that led to the introduction of General Psychology as a university-wide course, the creation of the Student Mentorship Programme, and the development of the University’s Sexual Harassment Policy, Disability Mainstreaming Policy, Gender Mainstreaming Policy, and many others. He also helped establish important structures such as the Disability and Gender Mainstreaming Office and the Student Financial Aid Office. Through his strong communication and partnership-building skills, he has secured scholarships, internships, and career opportunities for UMaT students from over 25 organisations.

Within the University, he has served on more than 25 committees as chairperson, secretary, or member. His contributions cover areas like student discipline, security, administrative improvement, academic policy, and staff welfare. His work has helped strengthen UMaT’s management and student support systems.

Dr Andoh-Robertson is active in education, community service, and youth development. He chairs the Parent Association of Archbishop Porter Girls SHS and is a member of the Ghana Chamber of Mines Tertiary Education Fund Committee. His research focuses on counselling, education, mental health, and student development. He also reviews articles for international journals, showing his active role in global academic work.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Ghana Psychological Council, Ghana Psychological Association, Ghana National Association of Certificated Counsellors, and the Ghana Association of University Administrators, where he once served as National Editor and Local Secretary.

His early career as a Teacher, Acting Headmaster, District Education Officer, and Adjunct Lecturer has shaped his understanding of how universities and academic institutions in general work. It also taught him the importance of empathy, discipline, and teamwork as qualities that guide him today. With strong ICT skills and a broad understanding of administration, psychology, and teaching, he brings a well-rounded approach to leadership.

As Registrar of UMaT, Dr. Theophilus Andoh-Robertson is well-prepared to lead the Registrar’s Office into a new phase of efficiency, innovation, and excellence. His deep experience, strong values, and dedication to service position him to support UMaT’s vision of attaining excellence.
